In 2001 the European Concrete Societies Network (ECSN) took the initiative to organize, biannually the European Concrete Award for Excellence in Concrete. In 2002 the first European Concrete Awards were presented during the Austrian Concrete Days in March in Vienna. The ECSN is a network of Concrete Societies from Austria, Finland, Sweden, Norway, The United Kingdom, Ireland, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Czech Republic and Italy.
